This popular huge Ferris wheel is located on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. The build is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft). The London Eye was designed by a couple team of Julia Barfield and David Marks of Marks Barfield Architects.
The London Eye was formally opened on 31 December 1999, but did not open to the paying public until 9 March 2000 because of a capsule clutch problem, it was the world’s tallest Ferris wheel. It is admired by the greatest tourist attractions in the United Kingdom with over 3.75 million visitors annually from all over the globe. The London Eye river cruise sails from beneath the London Eye for approximately 40 minutes, cruising through spectacular scenic views of London. This is a great opportunity to view some of London’s top iconic buildings and listen about the history of London from the River Thames.
